The Keltic Dreams Trip to Ireland
Last
year, the Keltic Dreams hit Ireland by storm and performed for President McAleese
in Dublin as well as on the Late Late show and various other venues including
a large audience at St Stephen's green Shopping center. We were honored to have
the producer of Riverdance , John McColgan, document our story together with Joanne
McGrath in a documentary that was christened "A Bronx Dream" produced
by Tyrone productions, which has aired in Ireland number of times on RTE including
its debut on St Patrick's Day. This will be the first time The Keltic Dreams have
travelled to Ireland since the documentary has aired in Ireland. The documentary
has created a huge interest from the Irish audience as the 36 children, ages 7
- 13, who make up The Keltic Dreams are from a Public School in the Bronx and
are all of African American and Latino background. Raising a total of $85,000
through donations from people all over the USA in 5 months, the will fly to Ireland
May 14 - May 19. For most it will be their first time on a plane . We want to
show the world that anything is possible if you really believe in the dream. Never
ever give up, you can make anything happen!!!!
This
year we plan to build the first triangle connecting New York to Belfast and the
South of Ireland creating as what was once described to me by Joey Commerford
as our very own Trinity triangle. Connecting the United States to the North and
South of Ireland. Building a bridge between the three.

- Performance in Hazelwood Integrated school,
Belfast, 9:00AM
This year The Keltic Dreams plan to do this for the very first
time as it has never been done before to this extent. They plan to perform for
and reach out to children from an Integrated school in Belfast, Hazelwood school.
This will be a very powerful show as the children from Hazelwood school will then
perform for us. This show will give a powerful message to its audience demonstrating
children from different worlds reaching out to each other regardless of cultural
differences, religion, or race and shows the power of Irish culture and it's ability
to connect children from different worlds. A very positive example of diversity
at its finest will be seen in this show!! The Keltic Dreams will then mix in to
the classrooms with of these Northern Ireland children for the morning!!!
Saturday,
May 17, 2008 - 11:00AM (Press and media coverage welcome)
On Saturday, the
chosen venue is the highest pub in Ireland Johnny Foxes!!
Here , The Keltic
Dreams will mix with a traditional Irish dance school from the South of Ireland,
The Kevin Warren School of Irish dance. Each group of children will perform 4
dances for each other. Then both groups have been working on their own group dance
to the same music. They will debut this performance in Johnny Foxes fusing our
version of Irish dance with the more traditional setting. Then Joey Commerford
from Riverdance will put on The Johnny Foxes Show for all the kids from both schools.
Both schools will mingle together over lunch courtesy of Johnny Foxes and then
all travel to Glendalough together for a fun day out!!
